KABUL, July 6 (Xinhua) -- At least three people lost their lives and seven others were injured after their vehicle veered off the road and turned turtle in eastern Afghanistan's Panjshir province, state-owned Bakhtar News Agency reported Sunday.
The mishap happened after a mini-bus overturned due to reckless driving in the Bamwardar region, Pariyan district of the province, Bakhtar quoted Saifuddin Latoon, provincial government spokesman, as saying.
Latoon confirmed the casualties and noted that all the injured passengers were taken to nearby health centers for treatment.
Fatal road accidents are common in Afghanistan due to poor road conditions, reckless driving, difficult terrains, overloading, overtaking and overspeeding. ■
