FORDE, Norway, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- The top four finishers in the men's 71kg division all broke world records, while the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) clinched its fourth gold medal in the women's 63kg event on the fourth day of the IWF World Championships here on Sunday.
China's He Yueji, 23, set two world records in the snatch with lifts of 158kg and 160kg, before establishing two more in the clean and jerk with 184kg and a total of 344kg to finish third overall.
Thailand's Weeraphon Wichuma claimed the overall title with a combined lift of 346kg, including 152kg in the snatch and a world record 194kg in the clean and jerk. Japan's Masanori Miyamoto earned silver with 152-193-345.
Türkiye's Geng Yusuf Fehmi ranked third in the clean and jerk with 192kg and finished fourth overall with 151-192-343. 19-year-old Delos Santos of the Philippines, a former youth and junior world champion at lighter weights, set a junior world record in the clean and jerk with 185kg, totaling 322kg for eighth place overall.
In the women's 63kg competition, Ri Suk of the DPRK broke the snatch world record on her third attempt and went on to establish new world marks in the clean and jerk and total with lifts of 111-142-253.
A total of 477 lifters from 87 countries and regions are competing at the World Championships in Forde. The men's 79kg competition is scheduled for Oct. 6.■
