RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Giorgian de Arrascaeta and Pedro scored in each half as Flamengo advanced to the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals on Wednesday with a 2-0 away win over Brazilian rivals Internacional.
De Arrascaeta struck with a lunging volley after Gonzalo Plata's headed pass and Pedro tapped home at the far post following Leo Pereira's cross.
The result at Porto Alegre's Estadio Beira-Rio gave Flamengo a 3-0 victory on aggregate.
"I'm happy to be able to help the team in any way I can and if that is by scoring or assisting, all the better," Uruguay international midfielder De Arrascaeta said. "But the most important thing is that we're now through to the next stage."
In Wednesday's other round-of-16 second-leg clash, Argentina's Estudiantes advanced despite a goalless home draw with Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno. The La Plata-based side progressed by virtue of a 1-0 victory in last week's first leg. ■
