HANOI, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Thursday called for heightened measures to ensure order and security during the 80th National Day holiday, which will run from Aug. 30 to Sept. 2, Vietnam News Agency reported.
He noted that numerous important events will be held nationwide to celebrate the 80th National Day, with the participation of international delegations, the report added.
The surge in public demand for travel, family visits, tourism and participation in commemorative activities, parades and marches will pose potential risks to security, social order, as well as traffic, fire and explosion safety, he said.
He urged the mobilization of forces on duty around the clock, especially at the local level, as well as at key projects and major national events.
He also stressed the need to strengthen fire prevention measures, particularly at facilities and sites with high risks where large crowds are expected to gather, the report said. ■
