ISLAMABAD, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- A soldier was killed and five others were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officials said on Wednesday.
According to security officials, the incident happened after a military vehicle was hit by the IED in the Inayat Kala Bypass area of Bajaur District of the province.
Police, security forces and rescue teams rushed to the site immediately after the blast and shifted the injured to a military hospital in the area.
Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in the surroundings to arrest the culprits.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
Situated along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, has recently witnessed an increase in terrorist activities, with terrorists targeting security forces and civilians. ■
