WASHINGTON, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese center Li Yueru will miss the rest of the 2025 Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) season with a knee injury, the Dallas Wings announced on Tuesday.

"Li Yueru will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sprain in her left knee," the Wings posted on its X account, adding that Li sustained the injury against the Los Angeles Sparks on August 15.

"Yueru is expected to make a full recovery. Additional updates will be provided when appropriate," it added.

Prior to her injury, Li had a career-high 20 points in the Wings' 81-80 victory over the Indiana Fever on August 12.

Li was selected by the Atlanta Dream with the 35th overall pick in 2019. Playing in her third WNBA season, Li posted an average of 6.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in 31 appearances.

With a win-loss record of 9-26, the Wings rank 11th in the 13-team standings.

Li had signed with Turkish outfit CBK Mersin, and planned to join her new team after the conclusion of the WNBA season. ■
