CHANGSHA, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Luxembourg's Archie Williams emerged victorious in the "Slackline King" Championship held in central China's Zhangjiajie City on Wednesday.
20 elite slackline athletes from 10 countries and regions competed at an altitude of more than 1,000 meters, before Williams emerged as the winner, with Poland's Jakub Morawski and China's He Jinyi finishing second and third respectively.
"Competing amidst the stunning peaks of Zhangjiajie was the most beautiful, thrilling and unforgettable experience of my highlining career. I look forward to returning next year to compete with the world's best highliners," said Williams.
The highline, set between two scenic areas in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, is one of the most challenging and complex ones in the world.
Competitors walked on a slackline two millimeters thick and about an inch wide. The rules required athletes to complete the 1,000-meter course within three falls, with the fastest time winning the competition.
Zhangjiajie has hosted the slackline competition since 2018. ■
