JERUSALEM, July 8 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli military said it carried out an airstrike in northern Lebanon on Tuesday, targeting a key Hamas militant.
The military statement did not disclose the identity or condition of the targeted individual. Israel's state-owned Army Radio reported that the target was Maharan Mustafa Bajur, head of planning in Hamas' construction department, and that he was killed in the attack.
Lebanese broadcaster LBCI reported that the strike targeted a car in the town of Al-Ayrouniyah, near the northern city of Tripoli.
Despite a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024, ending 14 months of cross-border fighting, Israel has continued occasional strikes in Lebanon. ■
